On the day of the accident, the victim and other employees of the Defendant company were attempting to move an over-sized laminated beam using a forklift that was being operated by another employee. During this operation the oversized beam, that was 12m long and weighed approximately a tonne, fell off the forks, crushing the victim’s legs and trapping him between two beams. The victim suffered compound factures to his left leg and was almost completely severed.
