The Emergency Response Protocol: Underground Mines and Tunnels provides direction on managing a level 3 emergency at an underground mine or tunnel in New Zealand.
This includes establishing the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders under the protocol and the lines of authority for decision-making and communication.
The protocol applies to all level 3 underground mine emergencies in New Zealand including emergencies that occur in construction tunnels covered by mining regulations.
This protocol used to be the Underground Mines Emergency Protocol.
