The Impact and Effectiveness Monitor (IEM) survey seeks to understand if WorkSafe’s interactions with businesses result in changes to how employers and workers behave, think, and feel about work-related harm.
Key findings
New insights into WorkSafe’s value show our inspectors are influencing significant improvements to work health and safety across New Zealand.
The IEM survey, run annually by Research New Zealand, surveyed 700 businesses immediately after they were visited by WorkSafe:
- 73% of businesses surveyed identified work health and safety improvements due to their interactions with WorkSafe.
- Around 70% of businesses used WorkSafe’s guidance materials in the past year, with two-thirds rating these resources as ‘very useful’ or ‘extremely useful’.
- Overall, 68% of businesses agreed that they now know more about what is required for health and safety in the workplace due to their interaction with WorkSafe inspectors.
