2.1 What does this Part cover?
2.1.1
The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) is New Zealand’s key work health and safety law.
2.1.2
All work and workplaces are covered by HSWA unless they have been specifically excluded.
2.1.3
This Part provides:
- an explanation of the duty holders in HSWA
- an overview on how PCBUs in a contracting chain could work together to manage health and safety
- your duty to manage risk
- some things to consider when managing health risks including using exposure and health monitoring.
- the common health risks to forestry workers, and what you can do to eliminate or minimise these risks
- expectations of principals, contractors, subcontractors, and other PCBUs.
2.1.4
This Part does not explain all the duties that PCBUs may have under HSWA.
2.1.5
Certain duties will be introduced where relevant later in the guidance.
