Results from our latest survey of worker and employer health and safety attitudes and behaviours.
Attitudes shape behaviour, and this is no less true of the workplace.
That’s why we commission a detailed survey each year of how employers and workers think about health and safety, and what that means in practice. The more we know, the more effective we can be in ensuring everyone returns home from work healthy and safe.
This year’s survey is the fourth by research company Nielsen and establishes a solid base of research that can help us design more effective health and safety initiatives. More than 3,000 workers and nearly 2,000 employers completed the survey. Respondents came from six sectors: agriculture, construction, forestry, manufacturing, commercial fishing and “other”.
The first four sectors, all high-risk areas for WorkSafe, are examined in a cross-sector report. Individual reports are also available on:
- agriculture
- construction
- forestry
- manufacturing
- worker engagement and participation.
“Other” results are for comparison purposes only, and cover a variety of non-high-risk workplaces. Maritime New Zealand has prepared a report on commercial fishing(external link).
