We provide a broad range of statistics about workplace health and safety on this site. Please note the following information regarding the statistics we provide:
- These statistics are the most detailed and up to date information published by WorkSafe.
- These statistics relate to events and activities occurring in WorkSafe New Zealand’s jurisdiction and do not include notifications required under the HSE Act to Maritime NZ (water-borne incidents) and the Civil Aviation Authority (air incidents).
- Statistics NZ provides a full picture of workplace incidents bringing together all Health and Safety in Employment Act, Health and Safety at Work Act notifications and ACC data. Please see the Statistics NZ website for their information.
These data sheets identify the Level 1 – 3 classifications of workplace fatalities and injuries provided to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety to determine the risk profile of individual industries in New Zealand.
These statistics show the number of fatal work-related incidents reported to WorkSafe New Zealand (WorkSafe) under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. They do not include deaths in the maritime or aviation sectors or fatalities due to work-related road crashes.
