Temperature - Guidelines for the management of work in extremes of temperature

These guidelines are a supporting document to assist employers to comply with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 as it relates to the hazard of work in extremes of temperature. The information in these guidelines will be of use to three groups: those responsible for managing staff who work in extremes of temperature, the staff who work in those environments, and the personnel who provide medical support.

PLEASE NOTE

On Monday 4 April 2016, the New Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) came into effect.

HSWA repeals the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, with immediate effect.

All references to the 1992 Act on this website and within our guidance will be progressively removed.
